As early as 2021 it was foreseeable that a new Neue Deutsche Welle would flood the country, which is more than just a déjà vu of the 80s. Many artists and bands are giving the lavish disco ball sound of the best decade of all time a makeover and are helping post-punk, new wave and synthpop to have a second youth these days.
Temmis have been at the forefront of this revival since their single “Wenn du da bist” from the EP of the same name. The newcomers from Tübingen cross the danceable club sound of yesteryear with modern DIY production options, add dark vocals and technoid arrangements that get your legs straight and round it all off with clever self-mockery. It works so well and sounds so tightly recorded that it’s amazing how the band realizes this style stunt off the cuff. A fun project preparing to give Generation Z a coming-of-age soundtrack. So who knows what else they are capable of live.
