When men still couldn’t let go of their trucker caps, a 30s woolmark dandy was already walking around at Fashion Week in Berlin – an exotic at the beginning of the 2000s, now long since appreciated as a trendsetter. That was Uwe van Afferden. With his store of the same name in Düsseldorf, he preceded the heritage movement in men’s fashion.
But the trained graphic designer and illustrator also wanted to make a statement on the base of his profession. Ten years ago he founded “The Heritage Post”. The magazine creates the congenial foil for the classic products van Afferden gathers from all over the world. At the Selvedge Run trade fair for quality menswear in Berlin, van Afferden showcased his stand with the same intuition as his magazine. And “The Heritage Post” was also present at Pure&Crafted in the early days. Clearly, the kindred spirits just had to find each other.
This year, “The Heritage Post” is not only an exhibitor at a trade fair, but is also hosting a trade fair itself: The Heritage Post Trade Show. Like a department store, the world of classic quality products is spread out, from jeans, suits and watches to jewellery and motorbikes. Young manufacturers like Ondura or Schuh-Bertl are catching up with traditional brands like Tellason or L.L. Bean.
